Emergency Nurses - We Are With You
As the Coronavirus pandemic has unfolded over the past several months, time appears like it has slowed to a standstill. We have seen how the general public have rushed to stockpile goods, while our courageous nurses have taken up the challenge to care for the sick, in the most difficult circumstances.
Nurses have the enormous privilege of carrying the burden of preserving human dignity amid worldwide uncertainty. Together with our medical colleagues, all nurses meet and care for people when they are at their most fragile, bringing hope to what in some cases is the worst times of their lives.
We, at the Australian College of Emergency Nursing, would like to give a big thank you to all our colleagues, who are working tirelessly on the frontline to care for people in need, in the fight against coronavirus. As a College supporting all aspects of emergency care, we are truly inspired by your personal commitment to making a difference in these unprecedented and challenging times. We see our colleagues going the extra mile to ensure people are truly cared for in the most proficient manner even after long and exhausting days. We see emergency nurses working alongside each other, supporting colleagues and using skills learned, both in the past and new skills, to overcome challenges in the face of adversity.
Emergency nurses have faced numerous challenges for many years over several decades. We have always stood by each other offering a shoulder to lean on and with team support and innovation we have always overcome adversity. These current times of uncertainty will test our resolve and patience but just remember we are strong and resilient, that is why we are emergency nurses.
Be assured that there will be success in the future to eradicate Coronavirus. In the meantime, we encourage you to take all possible precautions to ensure the health and safety of yourselves and your loved ones. We must remain vigilant and continue to work together to make a difference.
The Australian College of Emergency Nursing remains by your side, applauding the work our nurses achieve as we are all in this together.
Important Information regarding the COVID-19 pandemic - Update 17 August 2020
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread in Australia, New Zealand and globally, ACEN is closely monitoring and considering the potential impact on our instructors and stakeholders and our scheduled activities and events.
The safety and wellbeing of our staff, colleagues and the community is paramount, and this will shape any changes to our planning for courses.
We also appreciate the additional strain being felt by the healthcare sector as information about the COVID-19 outbreak is emerging constantly.
We understand this is an incredibly challenging time for everyone, and the impacts of this outbreak on our sector and our communities will continue to be felt for months to come. ACEN is closely monitoring the situation, and we will provide updates with new information affecting our activities as soon as it becomes available.
In line with the latest State and Territory Government restrictions the ACEN Board of Directors has made the decision that all educational programs scheduled will be postponed and potential courses and dates will be removed from the website. All current applications will be held over until we are able to provide the education for you in your preferred location.
To assist you in being able to undertake future educational programs we have introduced an Expression of Interest Section (EOI) – which can be found below – on the website for all of our programs for your consideration.
ACEN will continue to monitor the effect of COVID-19 and the recommendations of the governing bodies and will decide each month regarding the potential for future programs to be scheduled. For the foreseeable future, we will offer positions in these courses to those who have pending applications or have registered an EOI.
Thank you for the incredible job that you are doing at this difficult time and please remember that the strength of Emergency Nursing is the unity that we have as colleagues and friends. Please do not hesitate to contact ACEN at any time if we can be of any assistance or support to you.
