The National Guidance for the Management of Red Blood Cell Inventory complements theNational Statement for the Emergency Use of Group O Red Blood Cells (National RBC Statement), supporting hospitals to implement the National RBC Statement. It provides advice for reviewing red blood cell (RBC) inventory holdings to reduce reliance on group O RhD negative RBC and maintain appropriate ABO and RhD blood group stock numbers that meet clinical need while maintaining an appropriate stock level to minimise time expiry.
